Installing TaskElf

Introduction

This section provides instructions for installing and configuring TaskElf. To check that TaskElf will run on your PC, see the System Requirements

Installing the TaskElf Evaluation Edition

Download the latest release update, run the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to install TaskElf on your PC and evaluate TaskElf for 30 days.

Licensing TaskElf

Purchase a TaskElf license, store the license key details in a safe place, and enter them into TaskElf using one of the following methods:

  • Run TaskElf and, from the startup evaluation window, click on the Enter License Key button to open the Enter License Key dialog window. Enter your license details and press OK. It is recommended that you use the clipboard copy/paste functions to transfer your license details into TaskElf.
  • From the TaskElf main screen, click on the Help dropdown menu and select the About TaskElf menu option to open the About Interfathom TaskElf dialog window. Click on the License tab and then click on the Enter License Information button to open the Enter License Key dialog window. Enter your details and press OK.

Your license information will subsequently appear in the About Box dialog window.

The latest TaskElf minor update for your purchased version (e.g., Version 1) can be downloaded at no additional cost. If you download and install a TaskElf minor update, it will automatically use your current license details. A copy of your database will be saved in the event that a database upgrade is required.

Uninstalling TaskElf

To uninstall TaskElf, follow the steps below:

  • Click on the Start button and select "Control Panel";
  • Select "Uninstall a Program", "Programs and Features", or "Add/Remove Programs";
  • Locate "Interfathom TaskElf" in the program list and click "Uninstall".

Setup File Information

The downloaded setup program (named TaskElfSetup_[version].exe or TaskElfSetup.exe) is a single self-extracting executable. If you wish to extract the MSI setup file, you can open a command prompt, change to your download folder and type the following:

TaskElfSetup.exe /extract "[temporary_pathname]"

This will extract one file named Setup.msi which can also be run to install TaskElf.
